Khattar, Sunil

Dr. Khattar’s research focuses on development of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) and other poultry paramyxoviruses as vaccine vector for animal and human pathogens and studying the molecular mechanism of avian paramyxovirus pathogenesis.

Dr. Kim’s research interests are to develop a safe and effective recombinant vaccine viruses to control avian metapneumovirus infection by using a reverse genetics system and to understand host interaction of multidrug-resistant pathogens and their biofilm formation.

Samal, Siba K.

Dr. Samals research is focused on molecular biology and pathogenesis of two economically important negative-strand RNA viruses, bovine respiratory syncytial virus and Newcastle disease virus.

Solórzano, Alicia

Dr. Solórzano’s interests are focused to the design of live-attenuated vaccines against pandemic influenza. In addition, Alicia is drawn to study the differential avian host responses to influenza A.

Dr. Tablante's areas of expertise are in poultry medicine, epidemiology, and poultry health management. He is currently the Director of the Veterinary Medical Sciences Graduate Program.

Vakharia, Vikram
B.S., Bombay University, 1971; M.S., Wichita State University, 1979; Ph.D.,University of Kansas, 1983. Dr. Vakharia is studying the molecular biology of economically important poultry disease viruses which cause immunosuppression. His research interests are in developing rational strategies for the diagnosis and control of viral infections.

D.V.M., Tuskegee University. Dr. Walters is the Director of the Center for Public and Corporate Veterinary Medicine, with primary responsibility for programs directed at post-graduate veterinarians in public and corporate veterinary medicine.

Dr. Zhang's research focuses on development of molecular antivirals against herpesvirus and a swine arterivirus and studying the molecular mechanism of virus-induced tumorigenesis and virus-cell interactions.

Mallinson, Edward

V.M.D., University of Pennsylvania. Now retired as Professor Emeritus, Dr. Mallinson continues to maintain a Salmonella Food Safety Laboratory at the Avrum Gudelsky Veterinary Center. His work emphasizes regional/national team projects on the practical Salmonella risk reduction at the poultry or livestock productions farm level.
